After having played two of three matches in the group stage of the 2018 World Cup, England is on top of Group G. Both them and Belgium has six points each, and have already secured a place in the round of 16. We believe that the match between the two top teams in the group will be an even one.
Big win over Panama
Sunday’s match against Panama was exciting to say the least, and was historical in many ways. Kane became the third englishman in history to score a hattrick in a World Cup match, and it was the first time since the World Cup in 1966 England scored more than three goals. England managed to score six goals with some help from two penalies, and Kane’s three goals made him the top goalscorer of the tournament so far.
Even though Panama couldn’t threaten England, it still became an historical match for them. Felipe Baloy scored a goal in the 78th minute – which was the first World Cup goal in Panama’s history. So even if they lost the matcg by 6-1, they still had something to celebrate.
Belgium qualified for the round of 16
Belgium played their second match in the group stage on Saturday, where they faced Tunisia. Plenty of goals were scored there too, and the final result was 5-2 to Belgium. The stats for the game were pretty even, with Tunisia having a 51% ball possession in the match. But Belgium managed to get more shots on target, which proved to pay off.
The win left Belgium with a total of six points in the group, and England’s win against Panama on Sunday meant that both Belgium and England has qualified for the round of 16.
